Charleston Neuropsychology is dedicated to providing you with the highest quality and cost effective medical care. We accept all major credit cards.

INSURANCE & PAYMENTS

Insurance and Payment Policies:

We accept most major insurance plans and credit cards.

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield (all plans)

  • Medicare (all plans except Humana, Aetna, CIGNA, Wellcare)

  • Tricare

  • Optum/United Healthcare/United Behavioral Health

  • Value Options

  • Thomas Cooper

  • Multiplan / PHCS

We do not accept or bill Medicaid, Humana, Aetna, CIGNA, Beacon Health or Ambetter. If you are out of network any costs of services will need to be paid out of pocket. We will provide you with a Superbill which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement; we cannot guarantee that your insurance will reimburse you for the services provided.

Please be aware that your health plan may have a deductible, office co-pay, or coinsurance (they cover only a specific percentage (e.g., 80%)) for which you will be responsible. Such payment is due at the time of exam. We recommend that you check with your insurance so that you are know what your plan covers.

ChampVA

ChampVA as Primary:  ChampVA has informed us they are 12-24 months backlogged with processing new claims.  If ChampVA is listed as your Primary Insurance company we will only accept the out of network rates, out of pocket and up front.

ChampVA as Secondary:  If ChampVA is your secondary insurance carrier and/or supplemental to Medicare, we will be happy to file the claims on your behalf.

Services Not Covered By Insurance

Please be aware that evaluations for Learning Disabilities, learning / academic problems, academic / testing accommodations (e.g. SAT/ACT, college, LSAT, MCAT, GRE), other academic issues (e.g., 504 Plan, IEP), disability, and anything legally-based ARE NOT covered by insurance. Medical insurances deem evaluations for such issues as "not medically necessary."

Please be aware that results of any clinical evaluation (i.e., you are going through insurance) CANNOT be used in any litigation. This is because insurances will pay for "medically necessary" evaluations only. They will not pay for forensic (legal) psychological / neuropsychological exams. These are different, and more comprehensive, evaluations. Many lawyers will pay for such a forensic evaluation, and we would be happy to discuss such an exam with your attorney.

A:  Generally it takes from 45-60 days to obtain payment from an insurance carrier.

Q:  I received a notice that my insurance company has paid on my bill but I can't understand how they calculated their payment amount.  Do you know?

A:  If we've received information from your insurance company, we'll be glad to share it with you.  However, for answers to any questions about insurance payments, deductibles or co-payments, you generally need to check with your insurance company as individual policies vary.
